Uphill Athlete offers high-performance coaching programs for mountain athletes around the world. As part of a new training series, they needed a video system that could visually support exercise routines — with timers, reps, rest periods, and prompts — while aligning with their clean, professional brand.
We started by designing a modular motion language rooted in Uphill Athlete’s existing visual identity. This included everything from countdown clocks and timers to exercise nameplates and transitions — all designed to feel consistent, unobtrusive, and crystal clear in a workout setting.
While After Effects offered full design control, long-form training videos (some running an hour or more) called for a more efficient solution. So we built a system of customizable, lightweight Motion Graphics Templates (MOGRTs) for use in Adobe Premiere — allowing their team to apply consistent branding and animation behaviors across dozens of videos without heavy rendering or manual keyframing.
This process involved thoughtful motion design, templating, and parameter control. We built the MOGRTs to be as minimal and user-friendly as possible, with labeled controls, baked-in logic, and reusable components. Everything was delivered alongside a motion usage guide, giving the client a clear set of instructions for implementation.
The resulting motion system gave Uphill Athlete the flexibility they needed to scale — allowing their team to quickly assemble training content without sacrificing production value. Whether used internally or passed to outside editors, the templates made Uphill’s videos more consistent, more polished, and easier to maintain.
What began as a technical solution became part of their branded content strategy — a replicable toolkit built to grow alongside their coaching platform.
